Campus Visits
2023 College Fairs & Visits
Whether you're in the initial stages of college exploration or know you won't have a chance to visit a college campus, attending a college fair to make a face-to-face connection with college counselors is an important step. College fairs bring representatives from all over the country. It's a great way to make a connection with colleges and get a lot of information in just a few hours.

COLLEGE ADMISSION COUNSELORS WILL VISIT OHS THIS YEAR!! Students can check Naviance to see which colleges are visiting and then sign up! Log into Naviance and click on Colleges and then under Research Colleges, click on College Visits. A list of colleges visiting us will appear. Please REGISTER for the visit. Also view campus visit questions to prepare for your visit.
NEW RESOURCE FALL 2020: Naviance has added a great new feature to the college search process by adding Virtual College Visits to their website. When you search a college or university in Naviance, there may be a star symbol next to the college. If so, there will be the option to virtually tour that college! Check it out for a great way to get the campus experience from the comfort of your home. See your counselor for more details.
There is no substitute for seeing a college yourself! There are a lot of ways to find out information about a college, but nothing is better than stepping foot on a college campus. While there are a lot of campus visits, the best way to make a visit as beneficial as possible is to schedule through the admissions office. You can also inquire about staying overnight in a residence hall, attending informational sessions, visiting classes, or talking with faculty from the department you wish to apply.
IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO ATTEND A COLLEGE CAMPUS DURING A SCHOOL DAY, STOP IN THE COUNSELING OFFICE FOR A COLLEGE VISIT FORM. JUNIORS AND SENIORS CAN BE EXCUSED FROM THREE DAYS FOR CAMPUS VISITS. More details about college visit attendance policy is in the Student Handbook on page 20.
Before you go...
Read up on the college and think about questions you wish to ask.
Check the resources in the Counseling Office and browse the college or universities website.
Check out this list of important questions to ask when on a college visit: Questions to Ask on a College Visit
While you are there....
Talk to as many students as you can
Meet with an admissions officer or attend an information session

Have a meal in the cafeteria
Don't be afraid to ask as many questions as you have

After the visit...
Take a few notes about your time on campus
Were the people you met friendly? Did they answer your questions fully?
What did you like or dislike about the academic settings. Could you see yourself successful in classes?
Were the students people you would like to get to know?

Would you want to spend more time there?
