Expectations for ELA & Religion

Classroom Behavior

1. Do your best! Participate, pay attention, and follow directions. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

2. When you arrive in class, gather your materials from your cubby, go to your seat and begin working on the writing work on the Smartboard.

3. Be prepared for class. You must bring your Chromebook (charged nightly), notebooks, textbooks, completed homework/assignments, writing utensils, and a book to read to every class.

4. You must be respectful. This includes to yourself, your classmates and their property, Mrs. DiCarne and her property, school staff, visitors to OLM, and the school building.

5. Listen while others are speaking. It is important to give your teacher and classmates the same respect you would expect in return.

6. Do not call out or make inappropriate comments during class or when in line moving in the hallway. Raise your hand when answering a question, asking a question, or adding something appropriate to the class discussion.

Grading

ELA grades consist of reading, writing, and listening and speaking. Vocabulary falls under the reading category, while grammar is included with writing. Listening and Speaking grades are generated from various subject areas especially science and social studies.

Religion consist of tests, quizzes, projects.

I will be using a point system for both ELA & Religion. Each assignment/test/quiz/project will be given a certain point value depending upon its complexity.

Homework

1. Homework must be done NEATLY and LEGIBLY. If it is not, you will be asked to complete the assignment again.

2. Homework that is incomplete or not in class when discussed will count as a missed homework.

3. DO NOT COPY OR "BORROW" THE WORK OF YOUR CLASSMATES. CHEATING IS STEALING!

Notebooks

1. Notebooks should contain all notes and assignments in a neat and legible manner.

2. The date and page number of assigned work should appear at the top of each page. (underlined in red)

Assessments

1. Tests and writing assignment due dates will be posted on my website as well as on the "Upcoming Tests and Assignments" chart in my classroom. I will do my best to give you at least a week's notice for a test. Please make me aware if you have another major test scheduled on the same day as an ELA or Religion test. We will work out a solution.

2. Tests and assignment grades will be posted on Option C ASAP.

FAILURE TO MEET THESE EXPECTATIONS WILL RESULT IN CONSEQUENCES

AS OUTLINED IN THE SCHOOL DISCIPLINE POLICY.
