Betrayal trauma occurs when someone we deeply trust violates that trust, fundamentally shattering our sense of safety and well-being. Unlike other forms of trauma, the pain of betrayal is unique because it originates from a relationship where care and protection were expected. This profound violation can devastate a person's sense of self, security, and their ability to function in the world around them. Because betrayal often occurs within primary attachment relationships, it also deeply impacts the ability to form healthy bonds in the future, fostering fear, hyper-vigilance, and a variety of emotional difficulties.
Erica offers specialized support for those grappling with the profound impact of betrayal, particularly partners discovering difficult truths. She is currently an APSATS (Association of Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists) Trainee and is dedicated to guiding her clients through the fog of unknowns that come with deep betrayal.
