ABC Tours, created by “The Bachelor” Tyler Cameron, is partnering up with OSP to create a mentorship program for middle school students with a focus on fitness & wellness. They’re interested in having our HS scholars create a pilot 1-2 week mentoring program from scratch (all creative control) - from the youth for the youth. Our HS scholars would be working with their team and myself for a few weeks in April/May (tentatively) to put together a curriculum for the program, which will then be introduced this summer at one of their partnering public middle schools.

Encourage your youth to apply to the National Next Generation Politics Civic Fellowship for 2021-22. Do you have students interested in participating in conversations about key civic issues of our time from multiple perspectives with experts and civic-minded teens from schools across the city and country? Encourage them to apply to the Next Gen Civic Fellowship to build relationships, build knowledge, build their resumes, and build a rising generation of cross-partisan leaders equipped to create collaborative civic solutions. Through monthly Civic Forums, Fellows will deliberate issues like, What would a just and equitable criminal justice system look like and how do we create it? Where is the line between free speech and hate speech? How do we ensure free and fair elections that enable all citizens to vote and have a voice?

The Forest Project has engaged countless New York City youth in ecological restoration and urban ecology since its inception in 1981. This paid summer internship gives high school students an unparalleled opportunity to learn about ecology in an urban setting. Throughout the summer, interns gain hands-on field experience and participate in dynamic, field-based coursework.

The work is rigorous but satisfying—building and maintaining woodland trails, removing invasive plant species, shoring up eroded slopes, and helping to document the process of restoring the disturbed woodland toward a more balanced state. Team-building activities help create a strong sense of community, allowing interns to develop connections with each other and to the program's mission.

Girls Who Code is a week virtual program that teaches girls—trans and cis—and non-binary students the computer science skills they need to make an impact in their community while preparing for a career in tech. Participants will get exposure to tech jobs, meet women in tech careers, and join a supportive sisterhood of girls in tech. Also, participants receive a $300 stipend.

Kode With Klossy creates multiple learning experiences and opportunities for young women and non-binary individuals. Our direct programs are created and designed by the Kode with Klossy team to provide best-in-class STEAM experiences at the intersection of technology and creativity. Kode with Klossy’s flagship program provides the opportunity for young women and non-binary individuals across the country, ages 13-18, to attend a free two-week boot camp that introduces them to key computer science concepts and skills. Scholars collaborate with each other and with inspiring instructors to explore the limitless potential of code and computer science.

The Met High School Internship Program offers paid opportunities for students who either reside in or attend a high school or home school in New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut. Applicants for the summer internship program must be rising juniors or rising seniors on the application deadline date. The program allows students to connect with arts, museum, and creative professionals as they develop professional skills, network, and gain work experience. Upon completion of the program, high school interns are paid a stipend that is commensurate with New York State minimum wage law.

NBCUniversal: BOLD Action’s mission is to inspire and empower high school students from diverse backgrounds to discover and pursue their professional aspirations at NBCUniversal through a series of employee volunteer initiatives that provide tools for work readiness and personal brand building, as well as an introduction to careers in Advertising & Partnerships.

TYPAR Project deals with Experiences of COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter with Youth Participatory Action Research. We are seeking a total of 10 young participants, particularly young Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, including those who identify as LGBTQA+ and/or face other intersecting forms of stigma or marginalization. Those selected as co-researchers for the project will be paid a small stipend of $200 each (possibly more) at the end of the project. In addition, members of the research team will collectively mentor the youth co-researchers, including offering advice and support for college/grad school applications for anyone interested.
