Reminder:  There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, February 16.

     This week we will be celebrating Mardis Gras and the Year of the Horse on Tuesday.  On Wednesday we will be going to church to receive our ashes.  As we begin Lent we will discuss how Jesus gave up many things during His life and His time in the desert.  We will discuss that to follow in Jesus' footsteps we will do good deeds as He would have wanted us to.  I am asking that you let me know if your child does a good deed without being asked.  Send me a note or an email.  They will be receiving jelly bean stickers to put on a cross we are coloring for Lent.  The goal is to fill our cross with all the good deeds we have done before Easter.

     We will be working on the letter K and reviewing the sight words.  In Math we are starting a new workbook.  I will be sending it home to be covered but will be using IXL for our homework as it gives more examples for the children to complete.  We will be starting a new fairy tale this month: Goldilocks and the Three Bears

     The homework sheet will be in the front of your child's folder.  It is also posted on this site under the homework tab.  

      Students should be reviewing their sight words every night.  You can create index cards with the words on them and put them on the refrigerator or on the steps going upstairs.  We use them to make sentences.  Make a game out of it and have fun!

IXL is an online engagement tool that we will be using in the classroom as well as for homework.  Your login information will be coming home tomorrow.  Please only do the assigned sections.
