Conqueror Golden Shield

The highest honor an Old Suwanee athlete can achieve is the Conqueror Golden Shield. Created in 2007 to honor student athletes that have excelled in all three components of their lives, physically, mentally, and spiritually. Senior athletes are nominated by their coaches, and an athletic panel consisting of members from the school faculty, administration, and pastoral staff is convened to review each nominated athlete. The panel reviews the athlete’s written testimony as well as highlights of the students’ academic and athletic success. This year the athletic committee has recommended two athletes for the Conqueror Golden Shield.

Glenn Savage Memorial Award

In 2011, Glenn Savage graduated from Old Suwanee Christian School. Glenn served as the president of the student body and won the Principal’s Award during commencement that year. During his time at Old Suwanee Glenn playing soccer, basketball, and cross-country. He was a member of our first boy’s state championship cross-country team. After answering the call to preach, Glenn was planning on attending Crown College. After coming back from a mission’s trip during the summer after his senior year; Glenn became very ill. Over the next five years Glenn was in and out of hospitals all over the country, and during the deepest valleys of his life he remained faithful to the Lord and then on August 9, 2016, Glenn finished his race on this Earth. “… and he was not, for God took him.”

In coordination with the Savage family; the faculty and staff of Old Suwanee would like to remember the positive example Glenn set by giving an award to a student-athlete that represents high character, servant leadership, a good work ethic, and one who demonstrates a Spirit-filled life.
