Anxiety Screener - Given to students in grades....
Advisory Programming - All students at OSHS engage in our Advisory program. Taking place about every 2 weeks during flex, students and their advisor meet to engage in lessons designed to support the emotional and social well-being of our students.
School Climate & Relationships - Relationships are the keystone of positive school climate at OSHS and our staff is focused on fostering relationships with all of our students. We encourage our students to engage in at least one activity beyond the core curriculum to feel connected to the school, pursue their passion, and to connect with peers. When challenging behavior harms relationships, students are held accountable to repair the relationship through the use of specific, restorative skills. A school climate survey is given to students, parents, and staff and the results of which are used to help update our Safe School Climate Plan and annual School Climate goal(s).
Challenging Behavior - Challenging behavior is behavior that negatively impacts school climate or interferes, or is at risk with interfering, with the learning or safety of a student or the safety of a school employee. This form should also be used to report alleged bullying incidents, meaning: unwanted and aggressive behavior among children in grades pre-kindergarten to twelve, inclusive, that involves a real or perceived power imbalance.
Restorative Practices - When an instance of challenging behavior occurs, students are held accountable to repair the harm done by the behavior. This may be facilitated by a staff member to support all involved.
Disciplinary Measures - If the challenging behavior is repetitive, very disruption or egregious, disciplinary measures may be included in the restorative process.
Small Groups -
Attendance Meeting. - Following District attendance protocols, if a student reaches 13 absences from school, the student and parents are invited in to meet with the students' counselor and an administrator. The purpose of the meeting is to ensure the school is fully supporting the student and that there are not any unknown obstacles for attending school. The team may identify specific skills or supports to help with attendance.
Administrative Restorative Practices - Similar to Tier 2 restorative practices, these are facilitated by an OSHS administrator when the challenging behavior has risen to their level of intervention. This may include members of the support staff to support all involved.
Administrative Disciplinary Measures - Similar to Tier 2 disciplinary measures, these are implemented by an OSHS administrator when the challenging behavior has risen to their level of intervention or when Tier 2 disciplinary measures have not impacted the student behavior.
Theraputic -
Credit Appeal Process - Following OSHS attendance regulation, if a student reaches 16 total absences in a year-long course or 8 total absences in a semester course, credit is withheld from the course pending an appeal. During the appeal process, the student must demonstrate for good reason why they were absent in order for the credit to be restored.
