IXL Screeners - Given to all students at OSHS, IXL software screeners provide a quick glimpse at student proficiency in literacy and mathematics. The results of the screeners are used to identify potential intervention supports.
Differentiated Instructional Strategies - Teachers are well-versed in meeting student needs during instructional time in the classroom. These strategies include cuing, frequent check-ins, sentence starters, graphic organizers, and many more. Teachers apply differentiated instructional strategies seamlessly for all students in their classrooms.
IXL SAT Prep - Available for all students at OSHS, the IXL software provides personalized practice that students can engage in during our flex period.
IXL Intervention, Literacy and Math - Based on information from classroom teachers, IXL screeners, standardized test scores, and other information, students may be placed into an intervention program. These programs are focused on skills in literacy and mathematics and are designed to be 6-8 weeks in length. Students complete this programming during their flex period with a certified teacher and progress is monitored for growth. Students earn credit for successful completion (a predetermined level of growth) of an intervention program.
ML Supports - Classroom teachers make use of specific instructional strategies to support our Multi-Lingual students. Additionally, ML students meet frequently with our ML tutor for support. We
Coming Soon - Literacy and Math Labs - Students who need additional support to make progress in their intervention program or who are having difficulty applying literacy and mathematics skills in the classroom, may be placed in a literacy or math lab. Students meet with a certified teacher and peer mentors to apply skills precisely with learning tasks being taught in their math or english course.
