7th and 8th grade Art with

ART is an EXPLORATORY course that students will take for one quarter of the year. Class is 45 minutes long and meets everyday within a rotating schedule. We will explore a variety of methods, materials and techniques while building upon creative thinking and problem solving skills. We will use chromebooks in class and google classroom for posting projects, announcements and to submit work.

WHAT TO BRING? Students need to bring their charged chromebook to art class everyday.

GOOGLE CLASSROOM

Students will received an emailed code to join google classroom. Projects will be posted with directions, resources and due date. All projects will be completed in school - there is no homework assigned in art! At the end of each project, students will use their chromebook to take a photo of their completed work, crop it, upload it to the assignment and submit.

Throughout the quarter, parents/caregivers and students can see completed projects and missing work in google classroom.

GRADING Students are not graded on talent! Students must show evidence of understanding of the concepts and directions in their work and demonstrate effort. All parts of the project must be completed with a clear, cropped photo uploaded to the assignment in google classroom in order to receive credit. Grades will be posted in Powerschool.

EXTRA HELP AFTER SCHOOL

Make up time and help with projects is available on TUESDAYS 2:10-3:10pm. Students must sign up in adaptive scheduler in order to attend the session. When students are absent, they need to check google classroom to see what we are working on, when it is due and make arrangements to make up the work they missed after school.

EXPECTATIONS

Bring your charged chromebook to class
Bathroom breaks allowed at the beginning of class (before directions) or during clean up - use e-hall pass
FOCUS on your work, don't distract others and work the entire time
Create work that you are proud of and reflects your best effort
Manage your time wisely. If you finish early - review the directions, check your work carefully, make improvements, add detail. If you are behind - focus on the steps needed to move forward, make arrangements to stay after school to catch up.
Raise your hand with questions or when you need help
No talking when the teacher is talking or giving a demonstration
Respect the art supplies - they are tools, not toys
