Community Cooking Session
We launched our first cooking session on Tuesday morning, and it was lovely to see and smell the dishes being made. Our volunteer, Lin, led the session, showing the group of parents and carers how to create simple meals from store-cupboard and fresh ingredients. Today, we made a summer coleslaw, potato salad, and potato and broccoli gratin! We have prepared printouts of the recipes, and these are available in the Community Room, or you can view these on our website. Please click here to view the simple recipes.
Thank you to all who attended; we hope you enjoy your meals.
We will run further sessions in the new school year. If you would like to register an interest please complete this google form - Cooking Sessions Registration Form.
The session is provided thanks to grant funding from Rockwool UK.

Bump Up Day - Thursday 4th July
Bump Up Day is when we announce who your child's teacher will be for the next academic year. Children will congregate in the main hall for a morning assembly, and we will announce the class teacher for each class. Children will then be able to visit their new classroom and get to know their new class teacher. Year 6 pupils will visit their new secondary school on this day.
Once our assembly has finished, parents will be emailed with details of the new class teachers and the location of their child's new classroom. We always enjoy Bump Up Day and know that children get excited to find out who their teacher will be from September 2024.
Book Look
We would like to invite parents into school on Tuesday 9th July between 3.15pm and 4.30pm to view your children's books. The books will be available in your child's classroom. We hope you can make it to see how hard your children have worked this year.

We are always extremely grateful for the support of volunteers and we are delighted to be able to provide a reward for time provided to the school. Volunteers earn Tempo Time Credits as part of a reward and recognition scheme for the invaluable work they do within their communities. These Credits can be exchanged for a range of services and activities provided by local and national Recognition Partners. We are in the process of setting up volunteers and look forward to being able to issue Time Credits.
If you volunteer with us we will be in touch with how you can register to receive time credits.
Lost Property and Free Uniform
We have a massive amount of lost property once again. Please can you encourage children to look in the lost property area for any items that are missing or lost. We also encourage parents to call in and look through the pile. We have a large amount of lunch boxes, water bottles and even pairs of glasses.
Please also help us by labelling your child's items.
Don't forget we also have free uniform available to parents - we have been putting the uniform rails outside main reception whilst the weather is dry. Please take a look.
Clothes worn to school
As the weather warms up, please can we remind parents that children should dress appropriately to attend school. We ask that short shorts and vest t-shirts are not worn to school. We also discourage the wearing of sandals

The food pantry is restocked every Tuesday and we have a wide variety of items available. You can call in on any day to collect items.

We've had a busy week of tennis tournaments.
On Tuesday some of our year 6 tennis players took part in the South Wales Tennis Competition in Cardiff. It was a hot and tense day at Whitchurch Tennis Club. The girls made it to the semi-finals, but after close games they came runners up. The boys played some fabulous tennis today, and were unlucky to lose in the final. We are so proud of them all! Well done all.
On Wednesday, a group of girls from years 3 and 4 attended their age group tournament in Cardiff. Well done, girls, you fought hard in all your games, but a win wasn't meant to be. We are very proud of your commitment.
Finally on Friday it was the turn of the year 5 pupils.
It was an excellent day of tennis in a slightly overcast and windy Whitchurch for year 5 pupils today. Fabulous performances from both the girls' and boys' teams put them both in the Semi-Finals. Both sides lost against very strong opponents, but we’re proud to be South Wales semi-finalists!
Well done to Betsi-Mai and Hannah in year 3 who have been picked to play for the Bridgend County under 9 girls football squad. Excellent news well done Betsi Mai and Hannah!
