Here are some messages and poems from our current Year 7 students. Remember as I have mentioned these are the experts on moving into secondary school as they went through this just last year!
Here is a message from Emma Owens who was vice-Captain for the school and part of the student leadership team at Our Lady's.
I know things will be difficult. You're leaving the comfort of your primary school or maybe some of your friends are going to different schools. I know this because I was in the same situation last you as you are in now. It might seem strange, exciting, weird or even scary but I can guarantee that it won't be. You'll have the chance to meet new people, new friendships will be built and there will be new teachers to help you. It's a change that everyone has to go through. You are not alone in this. Year 7 flies by quickly and before you even notice, you'll be in the same position I'm in, possibly writing a message for the Year 7's after you. A big tip that I would give you is to be yourself, don't try to change yourself to fit in. Year 7 is a door to new things and some changes but the one thing that should not change is your personality.

Is very nice and exciting. You get to make a fresh start and learn new things. I have learnt many new things since I have come to Our Lady's. Our Lady's is a very good and understanding school, if you get things wrong they work with you and help you until you get it right. Going to secondary school is a happy moment where you can start things over. It was very exciting when I went to Our Lady's.

Oh yay,
I am happy to meet you today!
I heard you are special, kind and smart
Because you've been blessed with a
Beautiful heart
This year is definitely going to be wild
All because you're such an
Amazing child

Hello New year 7s,
I know this year has been tough and it will be hard to settle into the new school and a different working environment, but you will surely be welcomed into this school wonderfully with the great staff. I remember my first day and it was wonderful. The staff were so welcoming and didn't hesitate to help when I needed it.

Hello, I'm Sarah, I can't wait to meet all the new Year 7s!! I know that with all that is going on it's hard, but that's why I'm here. I will tell you all the amazing things in Our Lady's. First, let me tell you about my first day in Our Lady's. Well it goes without saying that I was really nervous because I didn't know anyone, but we did some activities that helped us engage with others, it was really fun. Play time was so good on my first day because after I got to meet new people, we went outside and that time was for me to get to know my new friends and a time to talk to them more. Not just that but also to know how they felt. Our Lady's is an amazing school. It has made me more confident and every day I am excited to go to school. I know that some people don't like going to school but when you come to Our Lady's you'll change your mind just like me! So I just want to tell you that everything is going to be alright. Enjoy your time in Year 7 because it goes really fast.

It’s such a massive step
Part of you is excited
But the other half is upset
It can a hard time
With so many things on your mind
But once you get to know your surroundings
All that thought disappears
Friendship is another story
For some, it’s very boring
But my advice to you is
Always keep exploring
But now you are in a community
With lots of fun and opportunities
Welcome to Our Lady’s
You are the class of 2021!!
