We are excited to welcome your child to Southeast Middle School's 5th Grade Orientation Day! This special event is designed to introduce incoming students to our school community, provide them with important information, and help ease any nerves they may have about starting middle school.

Bus riders: use the west main entrance parking loop.
Car-Riders & Walkers: us the north Gymnasium entrance. This allows us to have proper security and supervision from both sides of the buildings for students arriving and departing school.
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE DIRECTIONS:
For the welfare and safety of all students, it is requested that students do not arrive at school any earlier than 8:00am
This is especially important for those students who walk, ride bicycles or whom parents drop off.
There is no supervision prior to this time.
The doors to the school buildings will be locked until 8:40 a.m .
Breakfast begins serving at 8:40 am
The first bell rings at 9:05 and the tardy bell rings at 9:10 a.m.
Classroom instruction begins promptly at 9:10 a.m.
At Southeast Middle School, we are committed to student success, and that starts with strong attendance and being on time every day. Daily attendance and punctual arrival set the tone for learning, help build responsibility, and ensure students don’t miss valuable instruction. We ask for your partnership in making attendance a top priority—every day counts, and every minute matters! We understand that occasional absences or tardies may be necessary due to illness or emergencies. In these cases, please be sure to notify the school by calling our attendance line as soon as possible. Clear communication helps us keep accurate records and ensures we can support your child’s learning when they return. The Attendance Clerk is Heidi Bulnes. The attendance line is 405-587-9915. Please, leave a message containing student first and last name, grade and reason for absence, and a call-back number.
Please be aware of our early checkout policy: For the safety and smooth dismissal of all students, there will be no student checkouts after 3:30 PM. If your child needs to leave early for an appointment or other reason, please make arrangements to check them out before this time. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and orderly end to the school day.
Parents are encouraged to attend awards assemblies and other special events during the school year. However, to avoid classroom interruptions, parents are not allowed to visit or observe in classrooms while scholars are present. All visitors must sign-in with a photo ID. Scholars will only be released to approved individual over 18 years of age and must be on the student's pick-up/emergency contact. Please, be advised, District procedure, now requires an appointment to be made in advance to meet with a school administrator or teacher.
Southeast Middle School does not permit individual birthday or other celebrations. Students may not bring food to be provided for others due the the chance of allergies or medical conditions. Additionally, students are not permitted to have meal delivery services while at school.
Communication is ongoing through Infinite Campus, Blackboard Connect (Robo) Call and , OKCPS email, Talking Points and Canvas. Schoolwide communication is electronic. We ask parents to regularly check emails/text messages for updates.
eMails, pre-scheduled visits to the school, and phone calls during teacher planning times, also encouraged.
We are also seeking parent volunteers for the upcoming school year. If you have a few hours during the day and are interested in volunteering, please complete the OKCPS volunteer application.
