Both formative and summative assessments should be used to measure student progress toward the team’s goal. District CFAs and PLC created formative assessments inform the teacher of student progress as the learning is happening and also provides students with feedback about their progress toward that goal.
During a focus on question 2, high functioning PLC teams:
Each teacher regularly uses formative and common assessments to guide real-time instruction.
Teachers use assessment results to make decisions for future changes in content, instruction, and assessment.
