What Is Band?

Band is an elective class in middle and high school. Students begin band instruction in the 6th grade. Students then advance to 7th grade band, then 8th grade band, then 9th-12th grade band in the high schools! Band is a short word but actually includes A LOT more!

Most of the time, students will be learning in the concert band setting, that is, in chairs in a band room, but the school band also includes jazz band, modern band, marching band, travel, contests, and so much more!
