What if I don't know what I want to play?

• No worries! Your band director will help you in every step of the way!

Does the middle school band practice early in the morning or after school?

• No, the band classes meet during the school day as part of the regular schedule. Any special rehearsals are scheduled far in advance.

Do l have to buy an instrument?

• No, not usually. Please contact your school's band director for more information.

Can I play saxophone, oboe, bassoon, or french horn in 6th grade?

• Those are considered "advanced instruments" and not usually taught in 6th grade.

Do I have to wear a uniform?

• In most cases, you will just wear your best dressy clothes for performances.

Can I be in sports or do other activities and be in band?

• Of course you can! Band class will not limit a student's ability to participate in other activities.

Do we march in beginning band?

• Nope!
