Bubble Tea
During Numeracy this term we focused on measurements and financial literacy. Ms Huang applied her prior knowledge of making bubble tea and shared the process with us to make maths real. We needed to come up with our own recipe and measured the milk, pearls, ice and tea using a range of tools and units. I learnt more about profit and how to sell products. I really enjoyed making bubble tea because that’s one of my favourite drinks. In conclusion a lot of fun math learning occurred in the class, maths is very enjoyable with Ms Huang.

Lion King Junior - Applied Geometry
Learners were able to apply their newly learned mathematical understanding around shape through our Geometry focus, and following a set of design principles, created a 'set' of our OJC Production of 'The Lion King Junior'.
'Speed dating quiz' against each other based on geometric shapes in AUGW class.
From TOAB Numeracy class: This term our learners had some different experiences with learning applications of some mathematical theories. After completing the “Numbers” unit we started on some geometry work so we learned about transformations and experimented with how a transformation such as an enlargement is considered a geometrical process.
We also learned that some real life patterns are an application of a mathematical sequence and theory such as a spiral. Our learners used the Pythagorean theory to create their own spirals and calculate the lengths of the hypotenuse then we looked at how we can actually create a rule which helps us understand other applications of the theory. Our learners also worked on different ways of problem solving using squaring numbers, finding square roots, finding area, and Pythagoras theory to find answers to different situations we face with geometry in real life.
