K-5 Science with Engineering Education (SEEd) Standards

The new SEEd standards will be implemented for the first time during this 2020-2021 school year. The standards represent a shift in science instruction from facts and memorization to an emphasis on students making sense of real world phenomena and problems, as well as the development of the related skills that scientists and engineers use. To access the new standards visit: Utah Core Science Standards.

SEEd Storylines: 3-Dimensional curriculum developed by educators in Davis School District and promoted by USBE. Teachers will find completely developed units called "storylines" with Google Slide presentations, students handouts, interactive Nearpods and assessments.

Utah OER Textbooks are available as an online link or resource to print for students. Each standard has an anchor phenomenon, focus questions and a reading component that focuses on the core science ideas. To access your grade level, visit: UEN Open Educational Resources.

USBE Science Core Guides are created to provide guidance for developing effective instruction aligned to the Utah Science with Engineering Education (SEEd) Standards. They are not meant to be used by students, and therefore they may not be written in student-friendly language. The Core Guides are meant to inform teachers and leaders as they make science curriculum decisions. Teachers will find exemplar 3-D formative assessments for almost every standard.

UEN's SEEd Hub contain SEEd lessons, activities, and other resources from the eMedia library that have been evaluated and aligned by Utah science educators. Resources have been organized by grade level to assist you in quickly finding the best resources for your classroom.
