To get the most out of their reading, children need to choose just right books. Have your child read a page from the middle of the book and ask these questions.

• Do I know almost every word? If there were more than five words I didn’t know, the book is too hard.
• Do I understand what I am reading?
• When I read it aloud, can I read it smoothly?
• Do I think the topic will interest me?
