Language and Courses
All classes are implemented ONLY in Japanese and we do not have any classes offered in English.
For the exchange students who do not speak Japanese, KUA strongly recommends students take studio classes (instead of lecture classes).
The studio classes for exchange students are also limited depending on one’s Japanese skills.
The class list for exchange students will be provided before they arrive in Kyoto.
Exchange students must consult their supervisors upon arrival to decide which classes to take. Class choices must come from each of the accepted department classes and liberal arts classes.
Considering the available classes at KUA and daily life in Japan, we strongly recommend that exchange students learn and acquire basic Japanese skills before coming to KUA.
MEXT Scholarship Program
In order to enter KUA with Japanese government (Monbukagakusho) scholarship, a student needs to follow a predefined procedure on his/her own.
Please refer to the related links about the details.
Accommodation
There is no student dormitory affiliated with Kyoto University of the Arts.
Exchange students must find accommodation by themselves. KUA International Center will provide accommodation information in Kyoto; weekly apartments, guesthouses, sharehouse, off-campus student houses, etc...
