All-Arts Day 2020

All Arts Day

All Arts Day has been held at Oconto Falls Elementary School since 2012. The goal of this day is to provide enrichment and awareness of the four Fine Arts for students in grades 4K-5. Dance, Theater, Music and Art are the focus for the entire day! Students begin the day with a gathering in the gym. An assembly with presenters that range in musicians, mimes, and dancers is an exciting way to get the students thinking about the arts. Afterwards, the students spend the day experiencing four different fine arts activities. Most of them are hands-on, but some of them are safer to observe. At the end of the day, students gather together once again in the gym to see yet another performance such as the high school pep band or native dancers. Living in a rural area, many students do not have immediate access to these types of activities. Most students say this is the best day of the year!

With the "safer at home" order issued, the challenge was to still provide this opportunity to our students, and potentially even more students throughout the country, given its virtual format. With limited time, and the uncertainty of how we could successfully tackle a virtual presentation, we asked only about a third of the scheduled presenters. We were fortunate enough that most of them agreed to take on this challenge, and also thankful we didn't ask everyone as it took us a day to record and a couple of weeks to edit and prepare the final version of Virtual All Arts Day!
