Welcome to 8th Grade Math! My name is Kelsey Nudd and this is my second year teaching at Oxbow! My favorite things include watching movies, going on hikes, reading, horseback riding, walking Blue, face timing my nephews, making crafts, and cooking yummy food.
I just graduated from Saint Michael's College (Go Purple Knights!) in 2020 and moved to Vermont from Massachusetts, which is where I grew up. I was raised by the ocean and I am thrilled now that I'm living in the green mountain state! You can also expect this year to see many goofy pictures of my side kick, Blue, who I rescued in Vermont three years ago!
I am very excited to start this year despite of the ongoing unusual circumstances! Now lets go have some fun with math!
This year, we will be studying a variety of math topics from geometry to algebra. We will be focusing on rigid transformations, congruence, dilations, similarity, slope, linear relationships/ equations/ systems, functions, volumes, data, exponents, scientific notation, Pythagorean theorem, and irrational numbers. We will be using workbooks and handouts throughout the year and work on orangizational skills with folders. For more information about the logistics fo the class, you can read our class syllabus. We will try to make our class as interactive as possible given COVID guidelines, but we will still have fun!
