Project outcomes
Ongoing meetings of SEVEE Consortium members representing all 6 participating school districts have yielded the following outcomes:
Student Outcomes: (1) Increased science knowledge, (2) Interest and motivation to undertake community action projects that address environmental concerns.
Teacher outcomes: (1) Increased teacher awareness, content knowledge, and self-efficacy for teaching about environmental concerns (2) Increased teacher pedagogical content knowledge for bringing authentic environmental science experiences into the curriculum.
Curriculum outcomes: (1) 2 MWEEs for elementary, 2 MWEEs for middle school, 2 MWEEs for high school that can be implemented across all 6 districts. (2) Technology enhanced dissemination of the MWEE instructional resources among all 6 districts.
Consortium outcomes: (1) Shared MWEE lessons and action project plans across the Consortium. Resources will be available for use across the Commonwealth through Go Open VA and the open source platform Canvas Commons. (2) Consortium-wide capacity for school districts and partners to provide "Pop Up" professional development to meet one another's needs. (3) A consortium-wide environmental literacy plan.
Long-term Vision and Plan
The Center for Educational Partnerships is missioned to support K-12 education in the Commonwealth of Virginia and will continue to provide organizational support to the participating school districts.
A professional social network across the region that can ensure collaboration and sustainability beyond the project's timeline will be established.
SEVEE will develop a sustainable plan for a systemic approach to address environmental literacy for all students at all grade levels in the participating school districts.
