Technology teachers are often responsible for lab organization, machine maintenance, material ordering, and clean up. To aid the teacher in these duties, the TSA leadership structure can be used to allow students to participate in the activities. The duties were as follows:
President: Begin class, introduce instructor and give conclusion at end of class
VP: Repeats directions as needed
Secretary: Take class roll, inform the instructor of absences
Treasurer: Pass out materials, inform instructor when tools are broken or low
Reporter: Write activity, homework, and date for each day on board
Historian: Keeps the time and tells the instructor when it is time to pack up
Parliamentarian: Posts weekly positive person
Sergeant-at-Arms: Introduce visitors to the class and explain the activity when asked
Since tools vary greatly between labs, several school systems have created inspection lists to aid teachers when maintaining equipment in their labs.
