Growing up in the vibrant heart of Ghana, West Africa, I always dreamed of exploring the world. That dream took me to Norway, where I pursued a master’s degree in International Business at the University of Nordland, Bodo. The experience was transformative, both academically and personally. After graduation, my family and I made the bold decision to start a new chapter in the United States. Here, I’ve been able to channel my passion for technology into a fulfilling career in Information Technology, all while embracing the adventures and challenges of our new home.
Currently, I’m diving into a second degree in Economics at the Old Dominion University, VA, where my research focuses on GIS and Causal Inference. My passion for understanding causation stems from a deeply personal experience. During my time in Ghana, I conducted research on credit access for women and saw firsthand the profound impact of providing credit to women. This experience highlighted the causal relationships between empowering women and the positive effects on their families, communities, and the larger economy.
In my current studies, I’ve discovered that integrating GIS with causal inference adds a spatial dimension to data analysis, making it more holistic and robust. This approach allows for a more intuitive understanding of economic patterns and relationships, which is essential for crafting effective development strategies. This experience ignited my commitment to finding innovative and sustainable ways to foster economic growth and development. Every day, I strive to contribute to a brighter future for those who need it most.
