Monarchs Flipping The Classroom
We would like to do this by having students give critical feed back on classroom practices. These discussed topics will help them improve on their teaching practices helping the relationship between the two be uniformed.
What will this idea look like?
Student leaders will tell incoming students of the department that they can participate in a feedback program at the beginning of the semester so they should pay attention to how the classes for the specific department can be changed to help them learn.
Once the semester is over and the information has been collected, the feedback will go to the teacher of the class. Once the teacher gets the info, they can change their course accordingly for the upcoming semester.
An example of something a student might say would be "requesting multiple ways of learning the same topic".
In the end, does this product cost-effective, safe or make people happy?
Making the classroom a safer place for feedback and improvement will bring more students to ODU in general because of how inclusive the learning process would be.
This opportunity will be cost effective because it is using the resources (Example- College of Science ambassadors) that are already in place at ODU.
These sessions can be efficient because faculty/staff members are getting specific feedback from the students that most recently took their class.
How is the product unique?
Our product is unique because we are eliminating the “barrier” between students and faculty/staff to create a more welcoming/understanding learning environment, where everyone can contend.
We are not the same as the bland surveys about the teacher at the end of the semester because we are focusing all of our energy on one department at a time we expect to see immediate long term change between semesters.
The first step is to see what the students want and how the faculty/staff can be prepared for current, future and incoming Monarchs!
