Bridging the Gap from Education to Career
We want to build bridges between secondary schools, higher education, and industry in order to build future cyber-security professionals.
From this research initiative, we have discovered that there are gaps in the education experience that prepare high school students for a career in cyber.
In this experiment, we have experienced four phases: empathy, define, ideate, and prototype. Each phase led to understanding the environment, and led to the development of what we considered the problem to be.
Empathy
We began to learn what was going on within high schools in regards to cyber
What We Did:
Surveyed Students
Interviewed Teachers and and a member of the Board of Education
Things we did not know:
Not all schools have cyber-security classes
Most cyber-security classes are not taught by cyber-security professionals
Schools do not have all the resources to support cyber-security activities
Define
We identified what we believed to be the problem.
Problem: There are multiple factors that led to the gap between high school students and cyber-security degrees, and careers
Factors: Not enough resources, not enough professionals, not enough support
Ideate
We decided the solution to the problems have already been invented, just not connected together.
Prototype
We will share a proposed solution to bringing together the various solutions to addressing the development of students into cyber-security professionals.
