In the fall of 2023, I walked-on to the ODU Women’s Rowing team in Norfolk, Virginia. I positively contributed to the team at Old Dominion, attending daily practices and cooperating as a team member. But more importantly, I managed a full-time student course load and a part-time job with frequent on-land and water training, boat maintenance, and competitions.
During 2023, I served as the President of the ODU Cyber Security Student Association (CS2A). I planned and organized the annual CyberOps conference and Capture The Flag (CTF) event, weekly club meetings, and online events. And I worked closely with other officers to prepare events, managing the 238 in-person members and 610 online Discord members.
In the spring of 2023, I published my first undergraduate research paper, sponsored by the Coastal Virginia Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (COVA-CCI).
The paper, Applicable Mitigation Strategies and Technology Propositions: Preventing Scamming in Marginalized Populations, showcased my ability to contribute original findings and effectively communicate research outcomes to the academic communityas a lead author in ODU Digital Commons. I received positive peer feedback and recognition from experts in the field for the research paper, validating the significance and quality of the work. Along with the official publication, I presented my findings to peers, creating a visual presentation to accompany the paper.
