We want to ensure that the next generations are informed on cyber hygiene. What is unique about our proposal is that this cyber hygiene learning would be free for all consumers because this learning would be integrated into already offered K-12 computer classes in Virginia by updating teaching curriculums to include up-to-date cyber hygiene content. We believe that having this education accessible would greatly increase cyber hygiene awareness in society and help the next generation of students be more informed about protecting their online data.
What is different about our proposal from others is that this cyber hygiene learning would be something that students partake in throughout K-12 learning rather than at one specific instance. Gradual seamless learning with other class content would help ingrain cyber learning into students' minds. Students will be more prepared to handle cyber security issues and tasks once they graduate from high school due to having been gradually exposed to this content for most of their lives.
Our solutions include the following:
Updated Course Material for Students: Our proposed course curriculum framework will integrate up-to-date cyber security and cyber hygiene content into currently existing computer courses. With this, our students will be able to be more knowledgeable on current cyber hygiene issues in society.
Access to Cyber Hygiene Resources for School Faculty: Teachers and school faculty will be provided with many resources regarding this cyber hygiene learning curriculum so that they can easily understand and learn this material to teach it.
Learning Funded by Legislators: This cyber hygiene learning would be free for all students and teachers because legislators would allow the course curriculum to be updated to account for this.
Cyber hygiene K-12 education will create a secure cyber future for everyone.
