The brainstorming stage of these projects began at the Cultivating Pathways to Sustainability event that Mr. Chadburn attended with eight students in early October. At that event, students prioritized the Global Goals based on what they felt our greatest needs were in the local Orleans community. They determined that Goal #1 (No Poverty) and Goal #2 (Zero Hunger) were most pressing. They then proceeded to come up with ideas in several categories:
- What are the resources we know of that already exist in our community to support these goals?
- What could we do, in addition to those resources, to help?
- Who are the people/groups that we could work with to achieve these goals?
- How will we ensure that people in the community know about our projects?
Their work (at right) was the catalyst for getting the project planning stage started with all of the other 5th/6th grade students.
