Albany Community School's Vision:
Every student known, supported, challenged, and inspired
Welcome Back!
Dear Albany Community School Students and Families,
As we begin a new school year, we want to celebrate the growth, learning, and meaningful experiences we shared as a school community last year.
Our first year as a middle school brought exciting opportunities, challenges, and many important lessons. Together, our students and staff developed new routines, expectations, and systems. Building something new is not always easy, and we are grateful for the perseverance, flexibility, and support shown by our staff, students, and families.
Students also had many opportunities to learn beyond the classroom through special projects, field trips, schoolwide activities, and community partnerships. These experiences helped students explore their interests, build relationships, and feel more connected to our school.
Our staff continued to grow through coaching, collaboration, and professional partnerships that strengthened instruction and supported engaging, responsive learning experiences for students.
Working with students and supporting their growth continues to bring me tremendous joy. This year, I am excited to build on the foundation we created. With stronger systems in place and valuable experience behind us, we are ready to strengthen relationships, expand engaging student experiences, and help every student feel supported and successful.
Thank you for your continued partnership. I look forward to working together throughout the year as we create a school community where every student feels valued, challenged, supported, and proud to belong.
Albany Wolves run together and rise together!
I imagine a school where students are excited to belong—where they are engaged in meaningful learning, feel safe taking risks, and know they can be themselves. I envision a school where mistakes are viewed as opportunities to grow, where staff find joy and purpose in their work, and where students, families, and educators treat one another with kindness, respect, and care. That is the kind of school community I am proud to continue building alongside you.
I have had the privilege of serving as principal of Albany Community School since November 2021. Before becoming principal, I spent many years teaching here in Albany, as well as in New Hampshire and rural Alaska. Outside of school, I enjoy hiking—especially New Hampshire’s 4,000-footers. In the summer of 2021, I completed a thru-hike of Vermont’s Long Trail from the Massachusetts border to Canada. I also love reading, spinning fiber into yarn for knitting, and spending time with my spirited labradoodle, Magnolia.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, I moved to Vermont in 2004 after living in Boston and Philadelphia. After purchasing 13 acres in Brownington, my husband I bought a 13 ft. 1970 Skamper (camper) where we lived with our two cats and two dogs while building our house and awaiting the birth of our child.
Prior to working at Albany Community School, I worked for nearly 20 years in the natural foods industry, most recently as manager/lead buyer for Newport Natural Foods.
I started working at Albany Community School in 2018 and this is my favorite job ever! I really enjoy being around kids and their kid energy. I am looking forward to the beginning of the school year and having our building full of kids once again.
