Q: Does LS Classroom have to be connected to Google Classroom?
A: Yes. It does not connect to Schooltool. LS Classroom uses Google to pull accurate rosters.
Q: I don’t have a roster in Google Classroom. How do I start one?
A: If you haven’t created the class yet, you can use these directions to create a class. Once you have a class, you can invite students with a class code by following these directions here. Having students join by code, is the easiest way for students to join if you don’t have a roster in Schooltool. If you have a roster in Schooltool, you can watch this YouTube video on how to sync your class and class roster.
Q: Can other teachers see my LS Classroom Dashboard?
A: No. Only the teacher and co-teacher of that classroom can see their own Dashboards.
Q: Can a sub see students working in the console?
A: Only if that sub has been added as a co-teacher to your classroom. If they are not a teacher or co-teacher, they cannot get into LS Classroom and see students. The same rule applies to teaching assistants and classroom aides.
Q: What if an issue comes up while the student is in my class?
A: Please work with your principal who can then work with IT for further investigation. IT will be able to see what you see and pull reports.
Q: Can this be used in labs with PCs and Macs?
A: Not yet, but IT is working on that. Once the rollout on the Chromebooks is complete and performing without issues, we will deploy to more complex machines.
Q: If my colleague and I are both listed as a teacher in a Google Classroom, and if one of us creates an Allow/Block list in LSCM, will the other teacher automatically have that Allow/Block list?
A: No; Any Allow/Block lists you create will be unique to your profile.
Q: If there are two teachers listed in one Google Classroom, can both teachers view the same class at the same time through LSCM?
A: Yes, both teachers can view the students and monitor the class simultaneously, as well as utilize Class Controls and individual student controls. PLEASE NOTE: If one teacher assigns a Web Rule (Allow/Block list), the second teacher will not be able to see what rule has been assigned. They will only see the green dot indicator, and will only see the indicator if they refresh their screen. The second teacher would also not be able to turn off the web rules assigned by the first teacher.
Q: If there are two teachers listed in one Google Classroom, can they have separate class times scheduled in class settings?
A: No. If one of the teachers adjusts the schedule for a class through LSCM, it will automatically adjust for the co-teacher as well.
Q: I added my co-teacher as a teacher in my google classroom, but they can’t see the class in LSCM - why not?
A: LSCM can take up to 24 hours to sync new google classrooms, new teachers, and new students. If, after 24 hours, you still cannot view new google classrooms, teachers, or students, please fill out a WebHelpDesk ticket.
Q: I am signed up as a student in a colleague’s Google Classroom - can they see my screen through LSCM, and can they use the class controls on my account/device?
A: No. If an Oneida teacher or staff member joins a google classroom as a student in another colleague’s class, your device would always show up as “Offline” and the teacher of the google classroom would not be able to see your screen, nor use any of the control features of LSCM.
