MODEL:
Many people are driving while they talk on the phone, adjust the radio, eat, or text. Seventy-percent of all car accidents are the result of this kind of distracted driving (Margolin 1). It is now against the law to text and drive, but there are not less crashes (Taub 1). There is technology for cars and cell phones that might help with this problem. An app is in development to show a “Don’t Text and Drive” message when drivers try to do it while driving (Margolin 2), and carmakers even have technology that prevents drivers from setting GPS and radio choices while the car is in motion (Taub 3). All cars should be equipped with new technology to control distracted drivers because the laws are not preventing it.
