In the Ottawa Catholic School Board community, a Spiritual Theme unites all members of the community as people of faith. These themes encourage us all to go deeper in applying the messages of God’s Word to our lives.
We are called to open doors, build bridges and nourish new beginnings.
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock…” Rev. 3:20
Nous sommes appelés à ouvrir les portes, à construire des ponts et à nourrir de nouveaux départs.
“Me voici! Je frappe à la porte… ” Apocalypse 3:20
Year One: We Are Called to Open Doors
Opening doors symbolizes hospitality, breaking barriers, and welcoming change, reflecting Christ’s call to open spaces for transformation. This year, we focus on recognizing and valuing the gifts of those we encounter, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and mutual respect. The opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica by Pope Francis on Christmas Eve 2024 will mark the beginning of the Jubilee Year, serving as a powerful opportunity to unite our community with pilgrims of hope around the globe embracing new beginnings with open hearts and minds.
Year Two: We Are Called to Build Bridges
Building bridges means creating connections and fostering unity. This year, we aim to become living bridges that unite diverse communities and traditions through gestures of solidarity, reconciliation, and social friendship, echoing Pope Francis’ notion that building bridges is intrinsic to the Christian vocation.
Year Three: We Are Called to Nourish New Beginnings
After opening doors and building bridges, we nurture new opportunities for growth and renewal and sustain them through community and shared responsibility. This year emphasizes fostering a sense of belonging where every person’s contribution is valued and celebrated, paving new paths for the future.
