No one school or agency can do it alone.
Our communities face complex challenges—like poverty, trauma, and housing instability—that no single organization can solve on its own. For many families, these hardships make it difficult to focus on anything beyond day-to-day survival. And for students, learning becomes nearly impossible when basic needs like food, safety, and stability aren’t met.
That’s where the Community Schools strategy comes in.
Community Schools are grounded in a simple but powerful idea: schools shouldn’t be expected to meet every need on their own. Across our neighborhoods, there are incredible resources—food pantries, mental and physical health services, tutoring, mentoring, legal aid, financial support, and more. Rather than try to recreate these services, Community Schools build strong partnerships with those already doing the work.
By welcoming community partners into the school and aligning their support with students’ and families’ daily lives, we create a shared approach to student success—one that’s place-based, person-centered, and deeply rooted in the belief that together, we can meet the full needs of our young people and their families.
Together, we can do better.
