Each Module in our Reveal curriculum will be assessed following the last lesson. The assessments are provided by Reveal, but the math team at EMS will review the assessments as a group and make any minor changes we feel are necessary to improve student learning without dropping the rigor of the assessment tasks. Once an assessment is finalized, the math team then works with experts from our Special Education department to modify the assessment for students with IEP's or 504 plans.
To review with students, I make a copy of our finalized assessments (both the unmodified and modified versions) and change the numbers in the problems. Everything else remains the same! I do this because I want students to be prepared for what they will see on the test: the same number of problems, the same context for word problems, the same visual supports. Usually, I will allow students some independent time to complete the review during class to the best of their ability before we will go over it as a class. Every student should be going home with a completed review the night before a test!
Here is a copy of the worksheet students should use to complete test corrections. The expectations and requirements for test corrections are included on the second page.
