We believe that school counselors serve as student advocates, mentors and teachers who develop relationships with students and families. These relationships drive our ability to support and guide students to achieve success in the areas of Social-Emotional Literacy, Academic Achievement, and College and Career Readiness; ultimately fostering productive citizens who will enrich our community and the world.

High school students and their parents can sign up to receive text messages from the NYS Higher Education Services Corporation to get connected to the resources they need to prepare for college and apply for financial aid. Text messages include key information about financial aid programs, how to apply, important deadlines, available events to assist students in completing applications, and resources to help put them on the right path toward their college careers. Sign-up is quick and easy at HESC Text Messaging Registration.

HOLLER is an annual College/Vocational fair that our district hosts in conjunction with our neighboring school districts. This year's "Future Fair" will be held on May 20 at Molloy University.

Seniors need to complete the OHS Graduation Survey in Naviance. The information provided will ensure accurate information for our statistics and graduation program. Attending colleges must be listed so that our Registrar can send final transcripts to colleges over the summer.

HESC continues to offer a range of presentations and workshops to help students get up to speed on available financial aid options and to help them complete financial aid applications. Students can access program descriptions and registration information here

The New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) Application will open on November 1, 2023, for the 2024-25 academic year. Students do not need to wait for the FAFSA release in December to apply for TAP.

Students who will be attending college in the Fall of 2024 can jumpstart the NYS financial aid process by visiting www.hesc.ny.gov/pay-for-college/apply-for-financial-aid/nys-tap.html for more information or on November 1 to complete the application.
