In AP Studio Art Grade 12 students develop a portfolio of university-level design and art work under the mentorship of a JMSS art teacher, and submit it to the College Board (US) in May. Students are challenged not only to show their technical ability, but to create a unifying concept, develop their idea, and communicate it as a professional artist staging an exhibit would. Students pursuing the AP Studio Art host an exhibit in the Red Poppy Gallery leading up to the completion of their portfolio. Highlights from AP Studio Art Exhibits.

Students were invited to participate in a Gallery Bootcamp experience to learn the ropes of running a gallery, staging an exhibit, and promoting events. Staff from the Shenkman Art Gallery, Wallacks, Metro West News, and the City of Ottawa joined us for two days of workshops on everything from lighting and hanging art, advertising, hosting vernissages, and connecting to the community. Students from Art, Business, and Writing classes joined in, reflecting the many skills sets needed to run a successful gallery.
The first week of June at McCrae every year is a giant celebration of the incredibly talented arts students in our building. Painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, photography, music, theater, animation and more are all showcased in a two day event. Highlights Coming Soon.
