How to Place a Hold

  • Click on the Find a Book button, above.

  • Search for a book by subject, title, or author.

  • Once you find a book that you would like to check out, you will place a hold on the book. To do so:

      • click on the arrow on the right

      • Click on the hold icon (upper right, the book with a hand over it)

      • You will be prompted to enter a username and password:

          • your username is your student number (no ‘S’)

          • your password is your last name (all lower case, no capital letters)

    • Then click ‘Place Hold

    • You’re done! A member of our library team will contact you by email with instructions for picking up and later returning your book.

  • Remember: you can sign out up to 3 books at a time, and can keep each book for a 3-week loan.

Due Dates

  • The due date is stamped in the back of the book that you sign out. The regular due date is three weeks from the date you sign out the book.

  • Make sure you put a reminder in your calendar to return or renew the book before the due date.

Step 1: Note the CALL NUMBER number during your search.

Step 2: Locate books by the CALL NUMBER on their spine.

Non-fiction books are organized by the Dewey Decimal System:

Fiction books are in alphabetical order by author's last name:

Signing Out Books

(when the library is open again)

  • Bring your student card or your timetable to the library circulation desk to sign out books.

  • Both fiction and non-fiction books can be signed out for three weeks.

  • You can have up to five books out at a time.

Due Dates

  • The due date is stamped in the back of the book that you sign out. The regular due date is three weeks from the date you sign out the book.

  • Make sure you put a reminder in your calendar to return or renew the book before the due date.

  • The book return slot is located on the front of the circulation desk.

Extensions & Renewals

  • You may ask for an extended due date if you know you'll need the book for more than three weeks (i.e. for an assignment).

  • Extensions MUST be arranged PRIOR to signing out books.

  • Books can be renewed on or before the due date for three additional weeks. You must bring the book with you to the library to get it renewed--we cannot renew books we do not see!
