Can I attend Lisgar CI if I live outside the school's boundary?

In order to attend an OCDSB school whose boundary you do not live in, you must first apply for a Student Transfer. Families requesting transfers should first register at their child's designated OCDSB school and apply for a transfer Jan 31 - Feb 11, 2022. Please review the Student Transfer Guide in the OCDSB Parent Portal for information.

How can I register for the Specialized Gifted Program?

Will I qualify for transportation or a Presto Pass?

All decisions about student transportation are made by the Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA). Please use the Can I Ride a Bus? tool on their website to see if you are eligible for transportation.

Who can I talk to about my child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) or learning needs?

What courses will I take in Grade 9?

Typically, Grade 9 students will take eight courses:

  1. English

  2. Math

  3. Science

  4. French

  5. Issues in Canadian Geography

  6. Healthy Active Living

  7. Arts (Arts and Crafts, Dance, Drama, Music-Band, Music-Strings, Visual Art)

  8. One elective course (Exploring Technologies, Food and Nutrition, Latin, Spanish)

  9. OPTIONAL: Students who select either Music-Band, or Music-Strings, may also take the optional, full-year (0.5 credit) Music-Repertoire course that meets two times per week from 7:40-8:50am to play as part of a full orchestra.

When can I start earning my Community Involvement Hours?

Students can start earning Community Involvement Hours the day after they graduate from Grade 8. We recommend that students complete their compulsory 40 hours the summer before starting Grade 9.

What if my child is looking for an English as a Second Language (ESL) program?

Lisgar CI currently does not offer an ESL program; however, we do offer support to English Language Learners. We also work closely with Glebe CI and Gloucester CI, both of which offer ESL programs, to help transition students from ESL to their home school once they have completed level ESL Level 4.
