Music at Lisgar

Music Program

Lisgar's Music Program has a wide variety  of ensembles to participate in. These include the Concert Band (Beginner level), Wind Ensemble (Intermediate Level), Symphonic Winds (Senior Level), Concert Orchestra (Beginner level), Sinfonia (Intermediate level orchestra), the Lisgar Symphony Orchestra (Senior level), String Ensemble, a Junior Jazz Band and a Senior Jazz Band and Flute, Clarinet, and Saxophone EnsembleThese ensembles annually  take part in many music festivals, including the National Capital Region Kiwanis Music Festival, and the Ontario Music Festival Association (Provincials) where Lisgar consistently obtains a very high standard, and is often invited to move on to the next level.

We have also provided students with an opportunity to participate in our annual Concerto Competition with the prize being an opportunity to be a soloist with the String Ensemble.

Our concert season starts in October with a concert performed by our Senior Ensembles for our grade 9 students and their families to get a sense of what our music program can provide.  We perform a concert in December for all our ensembles and and one again in May.  At these performances, students have the chance to demonstrate the skills they have achieved throughout the year for their parents and the Lisgar community.
