Inquiry based learning, experiential learning and project-based learning are so important for our learners. When children work together as a class or in small groups to learn about a new topic, or to answer questions they have, they develop important skills and attitudes: communication, teamwork, critical thinking, cooperation and curiosity. In our PSN class this is teacher guided, but the children work 'hands-on' and 'minds-on' to learn!
This year we are going to focus all year on ways we can help our planet, while also contributing to our Knoxdale Public School community. We will be collecting dried up markers from all the classes to keep them out of landfills. Did you know there are ways you can re-use markers at home? You can use them on snow and ice in the winter, you can dip them in water to bring them back to life (for a short time!). You can use the lids for game pieces and counters in math games. Thanks to the Terra Cycle program, we can also recycle them! Thanks also to our friends in the grade 5/6 gifted class for helping us!
We got to go upstairs to visit Mme. Kavita's class and collect their markers. It is so good for our PSN students to meet other children in the school, and for them to meet us!!
