Knoxdale is an early start school.
Our hours are 8:00am to 2:30pm, with drop off beginning at 7:45am.
The dismissal bell rings at 2:30, with buses leaving once everyone has boarded. We dismiss Kindergarten students a few minutes before the bell so that they can board the buses first.
Knoxdale P.S. is a French Immersion Centre. Unlike many schools, we do not offer an English program for Grade 1- Grade 6. For more information on OCDSB's French and English programs: Click Here
By registering here at Knoxdale, you are planning on having your child enter Early French Immersion (EFI) in Grade 1. Please note that in EFI, the children have a one hour math class each day in English in grade one, and they have two hours of English instruction (math and language) from grades two to six. All Kindergarten classes in the OCDSB are bilingual (50/50 French and English). If you wish for your child to be in an English program, you may still register your child for Kindergarten at Knoxdale but would have to transfer to another school for Grade 1.

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board has launched a new, more efficient absence management system across schools called SchoolMessenger SafeArrival. This system allows you to use a mobile app, a website, or an interactive toll-free phone line to report an absence in advance. It enhances student safety, verifies absences in a timely manner, and improves notification time with parents and guardians.
We are no longer accepting phone calls directly to the Main Office for student absences. If your child is ill or has an appointment, please login into the mobile app or website to let us know about their absence. For more information about our new student absence reporting system and how to download the app: Click Here
