DRAMA AT A.Y. JACKSON

Welcome to the Dramatic Arts Department, where we believe that everyone benefits from a little drama in their lives! 

Whether it's being on the stage as a performer, or working behind the scenes in such production areas as playwriting, lighting, sound, makeup, costumes or even directing, there's something for everyone in the A. Y. J. Dramatic Arts Department.

Here at A. Y., the emphasis in the Drama class is on creating a comfortable but exciting space for the students to explore their creativity, build self-confidence, and learn valuable life-skills.  They will  participate in structured and creatively challenging dramatic activities and assignments to help build their social and technical skills, dramatic techniques and knowledge.  They will learn through improvisation, playwriting, directing and producing original and pre-written scripts and monologues, develop skills through theatre games and activities, and have the chance to participate in one of A. Y.'s award-winning play productions, to name just a few of the exciting opportunities available.  

The Drama program focuses on both western and other cultural theatrical traditions and histories, and promotes and celebrates the Dramatic Arts in all its diversity.
