Materials

  • Q-tips

  • Paint or markers

  • scissors

  • glue

  • black paper or cardboard

Directions

  1. Take about 20 q-tips and cut each into two parts. Sometimes you can cut them so that it makes equal halves and sometimes cut them so that one piece is longer than the other.

  2. Choose your paint colours, it could be two or three colours. Paint the tips of the q-tips, where the fuzzy part is with the paints. Try to paint an equal amount with each colour. If you are using markers, colour the tips with the markers so that the colours are very noticable. Let the q-tips dry completely.

  3. Take the black piece of paper (or one you coloured black) and arrange your q-tips in a circular starburst pattern. Set the inside circle first and then work out from there.

  4. Once you have it set the way you want it, glue each tip down on the paper.

  2. Trace the animal shape onto the print paper and then cut the shape out

Cell Phone Holders

Here is an easy, fun way to make a cell phone holder.

Materials needed

  • 1 toilet paper roll

  • paints or markers or pencil crayons or crayons, or decorative tape

  • 4 pins, or 4 small balls of playdough or clay (for the feet)

  • Glue, if needed to secure the "feet" to the tube

  • scissors

Instructions

  1. Take your tube and cut a slot in the top of the tube so that the end of the cell phone will fit into the slot.

  2. Decorate your tube anyway you want.

  3. Add the pins, pushing them into the bottom of the tube so that they create feet that stabilize the tube. If you do not have pins, you could use small balls of clay to create the feet, or use small flat stones that you can glue on to stabilize the tube. You can be creative on what to make the feet out of, as long as it will stabilize the tube

  4. Place the phone in the completed holder

Shadow Art!!!

Supplies Needed

  1. a sunny spot in your house

  2. a piece of blank paper

  3. pencil

  4. figurine or action character.

  5. tape

Directions

Find a sunny spot in your house where the sun is streaming in onto a table or floor. Tape down your blank paper so that when you are tracing, your paper does not move. Place your figurine on the paper so that it creates a shadow. You might have to move it around a bit. Once the shadow is cast on the paper, use your pencil to trace around the shadow. Now you have a drawing of the outline of your figure. You can leave it as it is, or you can colour it in. Have fun finding all the shadows you can trace!!

  2. Start colouring in, or drawing a pattern in each section made by the overlaping circles till the page is all filled in

  3. You can just stick to black and white, or you could do colours or mix and match colours with back and white.

  4. Be creative and have fun
