Please contact me with any questions. There is no such thing as a stupid question; I am here to help you succeed.
The Q&A Forum is the first place you should ask your questions about the course if they are about assignments, links, videos, etc (things general to the class in nature). If you have a question, someone else probably does too. Additionally, someone else in the class may have the answer for you more quickly than waiting for me to respond! If you have a personal question, please reach out to me personally via Canvas messages or through an appointment.
Student meetings (in person, by phone, and/or online) can be arranged by appointment.
Students are responsible for reading all information sent from the instructor via email and/or posted through announcements. You are responsible for checking email and announcements in your online class through the last day of class. See OCC website for the last day of the semester.
Only send email to instructor via Canvas email, unless you have problems accessing Canvas email, then email me through OCC email.
I will reply to all email within 48 hours. If you don’t get a response in that time frame, please message me again, as I may have missed it.
Instructor may ask you to leave the class if you do not follow class rules as described below.
Sales or solicitation are NOT allowed in the online class.
Please be respectful of one another and our learning space. NO offensive language or material allowed in the online class, through communications related to the class, OR through any links posted in the class.
OCC Academic Honesty Policy will be enforced. Students suspected of cheating or committing plagiarism may be reported to the Dean of Students, may receive a zero for related plagiarized work, may be dropped from the class and/or may receive an “F” for the course. See the Student Handbook for complete details on this policy.
Unless otherwise indicated, students should not be working on assignments together.
Only individual, original discussion contributions accepted. NO partners for discussion contributions, no exceptions.
Notify instructor if you have any special needs.
Class Conduct: Students are expected to be respectful of other class members and the professor by abiding by rules of Netiquette. Netiquette is short for Internet Etiquette and refers to ways in which individuals should interact with one another in an online environment. Further information about rules of Netiquette might be discussed in class and additional information can be found by searching the term “Netiquette” on an Internet search engine (e.g., Google).
Academic Integrity: Academic dishonesty consists of cheating, fabrication, facilitating academic dishonesty, and plagiarism. Instances of this include submitting someone else’s work as your own, submitting your own work completed for another class without permission, or failing to properly cite information other than your own. Any use of working ideas or findings from other persons, writers, or researchers requires the explicit citation of the source; use of the exact wording requires a “quotation” format. Any form of academic dishonesty (intentional or not) will NOT be tolerated, and any sign of academic dishonesty may lead to appropriate disciplinary action. All work you submit must be your own and in your own words. Do not copy and paste from any source at any time.
Privacy & Class Conduct: Confidentiality and privacy will be maintained at all times during this course. Student posts and comments should be kept confidential, just as if the class were meeting in person. A respectful classroom environment will be maintained at all times during discussions. Remember, if you would not say it in person, don’t type it! Certainly feel free to disagree with one another (diversity of opinion is a wonderful thing!), but do so in a constructive and respectful manner.
Drop Policy: As a result of recent regulation updates, I am required to drop any student who does not attend the first day of class. In an online class, this means that you need to complete all work due the first week to remain in the class. You may also be dropped if you miss more than two assignments or tests at any time, at the discretion of the professor. If you want to drop the class, it is the responsibility of the student to complete that process. Go to the OCC website for more information: Important Dates to Remember
