Additional Course Learning Objectives

In addition to the Course Learning Objectives mentioned on the Course Essentials page, you have a few more:

Honors Assignments

To round out the Honors portion of the class, you will also have a few additional assignments during the semester:

Visit a University Library:  In anticipation for the time that you transfer to a 4-year college/university, you will visit a university library of your choice.  Additionally, you will write a brief reflection on your visit and how community college and university libraries differ.

Fact Checking Video & Misinformation Paper:  There is a notable amount of mis- or dis- information in our society today.  In this class, we will spend time learning to evaluate and fact check information.  You will be asked to fact check an assigned video. Additionally, you will write a brief reflection on misinformation and its effect on society, as well as your responsibility when disseminating information.

Synthesis Abstract:  Throughout the semester you will be conducting and evaluating library sources on a topic of your choice.  This will culminate in an annotated bibliography.  As an Honor student, you will take this research one more step and write an abstract synthesizing the information you learned over the course of the semester.  If you are interested, this could be a substantial start to a project for the Giles T. Brown Research Symposium.
