Wow! What a week it has been! Last week the IT integrators from OGC and JVLR attended BETT2020 at London's ExCeL. It was the first and one of the biggest educational technology shows of the year! Google, Microsoft, Apple and many more showed off tons of exciting new tech for 2020.
As well as tools to support teaching & learning there were lots of products to support computational thinking and physical computing such as Sphero's 'Little Bits', The Creativity hub's 'Wunderkind' & 'Kubo'. The Launch of Lego's new 'Spike Prime', Canva for Educators and ClassVR, to name but a few!
There were Educators, Academics and Computer Scientists from all over the world outlining their vision for the future of EdTech!
It is a very exciting time for EdTech right now and we can't wait to share with you everything we have learned and how we can develop world class standards at our school!
Bett is the first industry show of the year in the education technology landscape, bringing together over 800 leading companies, 103 exciting new EdTech startups and over 34,000 attendees. People from over 146 countries in the global education community come together to celebrate, find inspiration and discuss the future of education, as well as seeing how technology and innovation enables educators and learners to thrive.
Day 1 - The IT Integrators explored the South Hall filled with hardware & equipment to support classroom practice, hundreds of stalls from Lego, Google, Sphero, BBC Micro Bit, The Creativity Hub, ClassVR, Merge Cube, Crumble and loads more! They also attended an Apple pop-up classroom to learn more about using iPads creativity in the classroom. Finally, a visit and keynote presentation from the one and only Dr Brian Cox on cosmology and the universe in humanity's ultimate quest for knowledge.
Day 2 - We visited the North Hall where we explored Teaching & Learning Tech, speaking with professors from TPEA, expert practitioners from Ashford Primary and many more institute and policy leaders! We also explored tech products for SEND, EAL and Early Years learners as well as the exciting launch of Canva for Education, which will now be free for educators forever! We will show you how to get started and make your own account next week!
Day 3 - After exploring the North Hall & South Hall stands it was time to get hands on! We attended a Raspberry Pi workshop where educators from the Raspberry Pi foundation and National Centre for Computer Education (NCCE) in the UK demonstrated practical tips and outstanding pedagogy to teach physical computing. We also had Q & A sessions with several panels on a variety of topics from Global Education Challenges to starting a coding club.
