Learning materials are shared via ManageBac, Email, Google Classroom, Google Meet, Google Hangout etc.
Learning activities are engaging, inquiry-based explorations.
Learning activities may be completed:
independently online
collaboratively online, via chat, video conference or other collaborative tools
independently offline, to have non-screen time
Learning activities have a number of purposes:
allow students to engage with new learning
practice, discuss or apply learning
demonstrate knowledge and skills in relation to learning
Learning connects to current units and curriculum.
Assessment tasks enable students to demonstrate their understanding.
We will continue to follow the bell schedule and class rotations (as they appear in ManageBac)
Students will begin their days (M, T, T, F) with a 10 minute Homeroom meeting
Attendance will be taken during all lessons and homeroom
Establish a daily routine to support your learning. Get dressed, shower, and be prepared for the day.
Identify a comfortable, quiet space so you can work effectively and successfully (Not your bedroom).
Check your email, ManageBac and Google classroom before the start of the day and frequently during the day.
Respond to communications from the DP Coordinator promptly.
Complete tasks/activities as indicated by your teacher.
Be prepared to engage in online learning activities
Complete assessment tasks on time
Take breaks, play, rest, be active.
Communicate proactively with your teachers. Ask questions, but be patient when waiting for a response. If a teacher emails you, respond in a timely manner.
Be mindful of your workload and wellbeing. If you have any concerns, contact your Homeroom teacher, subject teachers and remember the counsellors are here to support you.

Ask questions, talk about learning, upcoming deadlines, and workload.
Help your child develop daily routines.
Encourage your child to take study breaks and to take part in physical exercise.
Be mindful of your child’s wellbeing; speak to them regularly about concerns or challenges.
Choose a learning location that is suitable for the purpose, preferably not the bedroom.
Create opportunities for your child to interact with peers to maintain connections with their school community.
Ensure your children are dressed appropriately for participation in online learning
If there are siblings simultaneously online, choose locations that minimise noise interference when recording learning or video conferencing.
Encourage your child to communicate concerns to their homeroom teacher, subject teacher or counsellor.
Set up a charging station in a public part of the house.
Ensure your learning materials are ready before each scheduled lesson.
Plan learning activities that are easily understood and implemented by students.
Provide learning activities that include time away from devices.
Provide reflection and feedback throughout the learning process and ensure you provide reflection opportunities to the students.
Post summative assessments on the OIS Assessment calendar AND on ManageBac so colleagues, students and parents can all see them and plan accordingly.
Follow the current OIS Assessment and Academic Integrity policies and procedures.
Utilize online resources as shared by librarians.
Curricular and Tech collaborative sessions will continue as scheduled (via Hangouts/ Google Meet).
Secondary meetings will continue as scheduled on Tuesday afternoons (via Hangouts/ Google Meet).
Run the homeroom meeting daily (M,T,T,F) at 7:50 with your homeroom group.
Check in with each student to see how they are going.
Wed Homeroom session will continue - we’ll create and communicate activities each week.
