During Commencement/Reunion weekend, June 3-5 2022, the classes of 1970, '71 and '72 will celebrate their 50th reunion on campus, and will perform the Mozart Requiem.

History

Fifty years ago, Oberlin Conservatory Dean and Choral Director Robert Fountain led a performance of the Mozart Requiem at the Washington National Cathedral to mourn the tragic events at Kent State University. The performers were from the broader Oberlin community, including many students from these three 50th reunion classes.

This year's reunion will once again bring Obies together to perform this choral masterwork, under the baton of Dr. Gregory Ristow '01, Associate Professor of Conducting and Director of Vocal Ensembles at the Conservatory.

We hope that the performance will be both a remembrance of the 1970 performance, and an opportunity to come together to find a measure of healing and comfort as we face the challenges of this decade.
