Why Bomba?
Gabriela Linares, chair and founder of Oberlin College's Latinx Music Union had the amazing opportunity of meeting Dr. Modesto Cepeda and his family at her home country Puerto Rico during a research project. In this experience, Gabriela and the Latinx Music Union team were all honored to have been able to connect with different musics and meeting amazing musicians such as the Cepeda family. This is why we expressed our interest in programming a concert at Oberlin and bringing the community together through music. We had the oportunity of having both a concert and workshop as part of the celebration of the African Heritage Month. The concert took place at Finney Chapel on February 8th, 2020 and a workshop on the 9th.

- Grab a bottle and rice.
- Once you have these, put a small amount of rice inside of the bottle. Feel free to use a funnel or to make a paper funnel to avoid spilling the rice.
- Close the bottle.
- Shake it!
